AS MORGAN WATCHED THE ramp unfold at the back of the plane, wind tore at his body like invisible claw s pulling him to his death. As the ramp opened, the city of Tokyo looked like a carpet of lights and neon. He tightened his grip on the pack strapped to his back, and readied himself physically and mentally.

Shadow came up alongside him. She pulled her goggles over her eyes. "Before we do this, I just want you to know that you're fucking nuts."

"I know." Morgan looked at his watch, counting down, and ran down the ramp. He leaped off.

The rushing winds tore at his arms and legs as he fought to hold them out. He looked down at the city spread below him, a sea of towers and skyscrapers rushing towards him, and a rush of adrenalin swept through him. He counted to three.

He pulled the ripcord.

His pack exploded in a flood of cloth. It snapped open into a glider over his head, jerking him back. He held the handles tight to control the path as the wings caught the wind. He looked up to see Shadow's glider already flying over his head.

Morgan looked down to pick out the Tiburon building. It stood out among the skyline as a tower with a sloping roof like a shark's fin. A neon sign reading "Tiburon Industries" in Japanese decorated its side, the front company for most of the Shark Clan's operations.

As the tower drew closer, he readied the next phase. His gloves had tiny suction cups with special molecular bonding. With the whole side of the building made of glass, he could adhere quickly to it. At least, that was the plan.

The Tiburon Tower approached him at an increasing speed. Its sharp roof seemed like a knife coming to slice him in half.

He counted down, tightened his grip on the glider's cords, and pulled hard.

The glider tore off his back and fluttered away in the breeze . He was in free fall, air pushing at his arms and legs as he kept them wide to lower his wind resistance. The side of the building rushed towards him. He could see his reflection, his own face coming towards him. Coming too close, too fast. He let the glider go too early.

He slammed into the glass. It seemed the whole building rang like a bell. For a fraction of a second, Morgan thought the glass would shatter, leaving him engulfed in a cloud of broken glass, cutting him to pieces.

It held. He pressed the gloves against the glass. He felt his body sliding down the window, but his arms held him up. At least the gloves worked.

Another impact drew his attention upwards. Shadow hung from her hands on the window above him.

"You all right?" he yelled.

Shadow looked down. "Yeah, I'm havin' a fucking party up here! I don't see an open window. Gotta make our own way in."

He felt his left hand drop a centimeter. And then another. "Something's wrong!" He saw the glove sliding down the glass.
